Learning through movement, language, and making. Sensing Space is the Foundation’s global educational program, centered on Prepositions and Movement — two universal building blocks of language and spatial understanding. Whether spoken or enacted, prepositions describe how we relate to the world around us: above, under, between, towards. They bridge physical experience and abstract thought, forming a language that crosses age groups, cultures, and disciplines. By translating this insight into practice, Sensing Space combines embodied learning, craft, and creative reflection. Workshops and master classes invite participants — from children to professionals — to explore how space shapes dialogue, empathy, and cooperation. The program has been piloted through school projects in Oslo, educational movement collaborations in France, and master classes in Alexandria, Berlin, Abu Dhabi, and Bologna. Each activity uses a methodology of “learning by doing” to connect the body, the mind, and the built environment. In partnership with educators, institutions, and local communities, Sensing Space aims to make design education more inclusive and accessible — creating a common language of space that everyone can participate in.
