The Snøhetta Foundation is governed in accordance with Stiftelsesloven, the Norwegian Foundation Act, ensuring transparency, independence, and accountability. It is a legally registered, non-profit entity based at Skur 39 in Oslo, operating exclusively for the public good.

The Foundation is overseen by an independent Board of Directors chaired by Stephan L. Jervell, with Kjetil Trædal Thorsen and Craig Dykers as founding members, and Martin Haakon Gran serving as Managing Director. The Board carries the overall responsibility for strategic direction, financial oversight, and compliance with the Foundation’s statutes and ethical principles. It acts collectively to safeguard the Foundation’s independence, uphold its public-benefit purpose, and ensure that all activities are carried out in line with its mission of advancing education, culture, and social sustainability.

Complementing the Board’s work, an Advisory Board brings together leading figures from architecture, culture, philanthropy, academia, and human rights. Its members contribute knowledge, networks, and critical reflection to strengthen the Foundation’s global relevance and interdisciplinary approach.
